My granddaughter, Tia, and I had a tradition. Every year around her February birthday, we'd take a ladies' trip to the Rhode Island Spring Flower & Garden Show at the Convention Center. When that ended, we were at a loss, until this year.

"Back in Bloom" brings back the Newport Flower Show, aptly held at Rosecliff (get it? Rose cliff? flower show?). Tia was willing to wait until June for our ladies' day, and we both agree it was totally worth it.

Against the backdrop of the magnificent ballroom and salon, we saw amazing floral designs. 

Everything was made with natural materials, from masks...

to jewelry...

belts...

hats...

and arrangements based on themes like full moon...

harvest moon...

crescent moon

and fireflies.

I'm only showing a few of the various categories, just to give a taste. The talent and expertise of the makers at this show was so amazing. Tia and I have agreed that we'll go back to the Newport Flower Show every year that they hold it. As she told me, "Nena, this was the best day ever."
