About Us

In 2008, my son and I moved from Chicagoland to Rhode Island to be nearer to family in New York. I had lived briefly in Rhode Island in 1982-83 and had good memories, and New York was too expensive, so here we landed.

Our first months were full of adventure. We read guide books and went all over, checking out the places we'd read about. It was a lot of fun. Then came school and work, and we fell into a routine. We really didn't go anywhere for a year or so.

Finally, in January 2010, I put my foot down. "We moved to Rhode Island on purpose. This place is awesome, and we haven't seen enough of it," I told Bear. He agreed. So we made a list of places to go and things to do and see. Then we started visiting those places. And as we did, we'd write about them, and link the post to our list. That became this blog.

And so, I {heart} Rhody was born.

In 2014, another of my daughters moved to Rhode Island with her husband and four small children. Since then, we've added more kid-friendly activities, too.

Now in 2025, after two-year hiatus, I'm back, largely solo, to start exploring again.

I hope you enjoy my adventures. I'll see you around Rhody!
