Background - I attended Massachusetts College of Art with BFA in Illustration. I've worked as a freelance artist, designing greeting cards, giftware products and have worked with a number of Rhode Island based jewelry manufacturers as a designer. I discovered pottery and ceramics as a hobby years ago. I've merged both my illustration and love of ceramics to create Folklorica design.

Where do you draw your inspiration?
I love bird watching and nature and inspired by the rural area in which I live. Birds are especially my favorite subject.

What's your best seller?
Best seller - So far, birds have been best selling pendants in my shop. I guess there are a lot of other bird lovers.

How long have you been in Rhode Island?
I've lived in Rhode Island for 28 years. I am originally from the Boston area which is becoming more and more congested. I much prefer Rhode Island. The beaches here, for one thing, are the best.

Favorite place to take out of towners?
Wickford would be my number one choice. There's so much history, so scenic and great shops. My second favorite is Jamestown's Beavertail area. Gorgeous scenery and a great place to walk.

Any advice for new/wannabe makers?
Hang in there! I spend about half of my time making and the other half promoting my work. I'll be honest, it's not easy at all. The toughest part is getting the word out about your product. Social media is a great way to start. There's nothing like working for yourself and not having to hit the rush hour traffic - and having to put up with the usual office politics. It's nice to begin your day with a stroll to your in home studio with a hot cup of tea and make your own hours - doing what you love to do.
